Chic Halloween this year?

In the earliest age, like their personal press agents, we were cutting their pictures out from the magazines. We didn’t do the research, but we were pasting images in special notebooks or were hanging them on the wall. It wasn’t just enough to watch them on the screen, but we had to have our private stalking collection. Fascination with movie heroines can sometimes be very silly thing, when you think about it.
Is it just a pretty clothes picked by wardrobe stylists or sewn by costume tailors, what attracts us to certain movie characters? Or it’s also personality of character reason why we sometimes feel a special connection with our screen idols. Since we often worship movie girls as style inspiration and inspiration stands more like influence less like cloning, it would be ridiculous to dress up head to toe like them on regular days. That's why is invented the Halloween! If you ever wanted to be an actress, but you are not on personal with spiders, ghost, witches and vampires, Halloween is just perfect day for you to get ready for the role. And five girls below I chose as Halloween costumes inspiration, are all from our era, and all special and quirky in they own way. Say hello to Margot, Amelie, Mirabelle, Bridget and Nikki!

Margot Tenenbaum, the royal gypsy princess of the Tenenbaum family is far away from the gypsy; her tennis striped dresses are vintage Lacoste, fur coat is made by Fendi and her brown purse is Hermes Kelly bag.
To be Margot list:
Striped tennis dress on fur coat, brown loafers, brown handbag and straight bob with plastic barrette. Black eyeliner. Be wistful and smoke all the time. And you will have to invent somehow the wooden finger.
Amelie Poulain, charming waitress devoted to helping people who surround her is very childish. As her style; small cardigans in bright colors, knee-length skirts and dresses, outerwear in earth tones, and little socks.
To be Amelie list:
Green cardigan on polka dot dress, black school shoes with small socks. Wig with the short bob and bangs. Smile with curious facial expression.
Mirabelle Buttersfield is selling gloves at the department store but in the free time she is an artist. Her style is very clean and ladylike, including lot of dresses, blouses and camel coat.
To be Mirabelle List:
Turtleneck gray shirt, pencil skirt and pumps. Tag with the name. Golden chain and the brooch. Red hair. Bit clumsy behavior. Act like you always think of something else.
The one and the only, Bridget Jones is a girl without the secrets but with very clever sense for humor.
To be Bridget list
Oversized floral pajama pants with pink twin set cardigan, or bunny girl costume on the coat. Don’t forget the diary, booze and the smokes. And the good sense for humor.
Nikki, Alfie's girlfriend is a party girl with very free spirit. She is very trendy, wears lot of golden jewelry, hats and the fur coat.
To be Nikki list:
Very long blond hair with the bangs. Hoop earrings. Smokey Eyes. Fur coat and the over knee black boots. Swinging sixties mood.

The original vagabonds

We must be aware that, unlike our primal mothers and fathers that were destined to search for food and water, when we were born we were liberated from that kind of duties. We had food in our fridges and water in the pipes, so what we had to do was just to find our likes or dislikes.
Further, we were concerned about, as we thought more clever things like finding ourselves. So we were finding novels we love to read, music we like to listen, idols we want to kiss, movies we want to see, drinks we want to sip, art we want to sense, food we want to taste, places we want to go, cigarettes we want to smoke, clothes we want to wear and God we want to pray to.
Also we learned you cannot play with toys and dolls always alone, so we started looking for companions, friends or lovers pleasant to play with.
Some of us determined in what they want, found homes and jobs.
Some of us never did and still are wandering from place to place like original vagabonds.
But with homes and without homes, we are all the same; we never ended up our pursuit. You can replace toys and dolls for clothes and homes but pursuit would be still there. It doesn’t end, nor with the favorite cookie taste, pot design or book style. Who says that tomorrow there won’t be another pot, cookie or book that we would discover as the factor of happiness. Because the happiness isn’t a story that you can find, it’s more like a never-ending story. And sometimes we don't know what we are looking for. So, is it possible that this whole civilization lays on idea of us, humans as constant vagabonds, even if we don’t carry suitcases in our hands all of the time?

Our wonderful Bozena was in this story the vagabond, living in the camp. Her easygoing personality and lovely face are perfect to describe how would Vagabond Princess look a like.

Me & my backpack

Backpacker is a person that is usually adventurous, spontaneous, brave and with the free spirit. Can it be that in every one of us lies a petite backpacker? Possibly the young Muccia Prada had a vagabond spirit back in the early 80s when she came to idea to create a backpack from a nylon fabric that her grandfather’s company was using to cover large suitcases for overseas traveling. By the mid 90s everyone was wearing backpack, and those with few hundred spare dollars in their pocket had a triangle Prada sign on it. Not only the Prada girls were popular, but also the voyagers with Chanel backpacks. Chanel heroines were not just on the streets or in offices but also in the books.
These days, backpacks are becoming popular again. Finally, different kinds of stores are offering rucksacks that don’t look any more like hitchhiking equipment. Military style is moral just when it comes to fashion so I find those influenced with it very delightful. Same feelings I have towards tapestry or ethnic backpacks. But my heart beats faster for vintage iconic backpacks. So Chanel Suede backpack in brown would immediately make a bohemian princess out of me, and one in black suede a ballet dancer, even if I am not on personal with jeté.

Surely it's silly to think that with one of these vintage backpacks you would be able to travel the world in 80’s days but they give this idea of adventurous nature.Me & my backpack means me more spontaneous and nonchalant. Also means more often excursions to library because it’s very practical and can hold more books than regular purse. It also doubles the chances that I won’t skip my yoga classes, or I’ll take a walk around the pretty lake that is just 5 minutes from my house. If nothing, doubles my chances for more often casual but chic weekends.

A girl and the shoe

Sometimes when I sleep at nigh, I have this strange dream. Sometimes it’s placed at Lanvin and sometimes at French Sole store. First I am surrounded with the light, great silky light that slowly disappears like some special effect from fancy Hollywood movie. There is a strange sound fragile like violins. More and more are becoming clear the wooden white shelves. On these shelves are little round floral boxes in line, and on every box is a pair of ballet flats, all shiny, polished and vivacious that you expect that they will start their own dance. Then I carefully start moving towards them and just in the moment when I want to pick up a pair, someone squeezes my hand very harsh and all the shoes disappear. I wake up sitting in bed and I start philosophical questioning myself if it is a dream or a nightmare when it’s equally beautiful and sad. Is it a sign of developed obsessive behavior or is it worst the fact than when first snow will come at the door, you will rather be ballerina on the ice than girl that wears boots with the fur coat. On these days when your feet will say ouch but you mind will put a veto on complain.
My mind, a very strange friend of mine, somewhere back in the history of my life have developed another obsession; fascination with delicate ladylike flat sandals. In exceptions, they can have a bit of the heel so that’s how my term, the church shoe was formed.
This summer when I was having my online mission, pursue of cute flats, during my working hours, I ran into awfully pretty Criss Cross sandals from brand called Marais USA. The moment I step on their world wide web, I forget all the shoes I know and felt like I know Catherine and Hayley, Marais mothers, all of my life. Work of Two Parsons colleagues makes me joyful because these two really know how to make a shoe. I mean, Practical shoe, every day good old shoe but at the same time shoe that’s graceful. And with civilized price.
On the beginning of this magnificent autumn, with the leaves that started to fall I fell again for Marais, but this time for Maryjane Bow models. Two tone beige, blue or black suede; troubled mind of mine cannot decide which pair is lovelier.
If only Cinderella knew for this version of Mary Jane’s she would become a princess by just looking at them.

“My boyfriend said once that if he hears one more time ballet flats,
he will commit a suicide.
So I decided to keep my mouth shut.”

Ain't got no...

Can you imagine one day you wake up and you lose your home? What would you do?
Would you live on the street or would you find some abandoned house for shelter?
Can you imagine how would it feel to be without your friends, family or warm bed.

That was idea behind this amateur photo shooting and lovely Petra perfectly fitted in a role of a lady that doesn't have nothing but has herself..Just as the song says.

LOOKBOOK GIRL LOVES PANTS & SKIRTS

Every new season, the thing we are more excited to see than clothes from our favorite labels are lookbooks or campaign ads from same. Lot of designers behind are really trying to narrate their stories, especially small clothing lines are ones that bring a lot of creativity to present their novelties. And they should, because all of us sometimes judge a book by its cover. And books this fall are telling interesting stories. That and the lack of space to present each line separately, inspired me to create my own imaginary description about girls which designers or shops have presented in their lookbooks. Since lot of them are paying attention this year to bottoms, this time misslikey uncovered girl that is wearing pants, shorts or skirt.

Keller girl is a schoolgirl. She loves books but also Saturday. She is practical, simple, lovely with very refined taste.
APC girl is a owner of small vintage shop. She loves red wine and long walks.
Rika girl is cool, confident and hip but dreamy. She feels best when she attends her drama classes.
To be adored girl is bohemian. Real, non phony. She loves art and old theaters. She is actually in love with love.
Girl from Asos shop this time is curator. In free time she is muse.
Carin Wester girl is big aesthete. She cares a lot for shape. Yes, she gets a first row at fashion shows very often but its not that she is going to hyperventilate about that.
Built by Wendy girl is a nature lover. She plays in garage band, listens to Nick Cave and eats dark chocolate.
Agnes B girl is a true intellectual. She loves menswear and anthropology. She has a cat.

*NOTE misslikey doesn't believe in stereotypes

What would you say about them?
